@ymeskhout Nathan Ashby TracingWoodgrains I didn't know about sentencing guidelines until I read *The Algorithm Design Manual* by Steve Skiena. The paragraph isn't 100% accurate as knocking off a liquor store is robbery, not fraud, but it's still a good example of logarithms in the real world.
