Today our Policy team met with Clive Jones MP, where we shared an update on our campaign for a National Brain Tumour Strategy. Following the announcement of a cancer plan at the debate Clive secured last week, we discussed how our asks feed into the cancer and 10-year health plan.

I was delighted to meet with representatives of The Brain Tumour Charity this morning. The work they do in supporting research into the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours, not to mention the support they provide for patients, is nothing short of extraordinary.

The government recently launched a public consultation to inform the creation of its upcoming 10-year health plan to modernise NHS England. We urge anyone with experience of brain tumours to engage and make sure the voice of brain tumour patients is heard. bit.ly/3CtboAn

The tax hasn’t even been implemented, most farmers aren’t affected. The amount of attention this is getting compared to families affected by SureStart closures and benefit sanctions is frankly appalling

It is revealing that the entire Tory establishment has turned out in uproar at the wealthiest land owners having to pay some tax. Meanwhile they could barely muster a word when charging the poorest who had a ‘spare’ room in their council home for things like medical equipment.

The news that people inheriting land worth at least £1 million will have to pay tax on it has drawn significantly more outrage from politicians and the press than the news that 1 in 3 children in Britain are now living in poverty.

It was great to attend yesterday's roundtable, which featured some promising discussions on the challenges facing individuals and their families affected by a brain tumour diagnosis and how we can work collaboratively to overcome them.

This #WorldCancerDay, we welcome the Andrew Gwynne MP announcement in parliament that there will be a consultation for the government’s upcoming cancer plan. We're pleased to see his recognition of brain tumours in particular being an area where more must be done to improve outcomes.

Brain tumours are the largest cancer killers of those under 40, and 12,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour every year in the UK. It was good to meet with The Brain Tumour Charity to learn more about this condition. #BrainTumourAwarenessMonth

March is #BrainTumourAwarenessMonth and today I’ve joined MPs from across the political spectrum in signing a letter to the Health Minister to ensure that those affected by brain tumours are not left behind in the governments upcoming 10-Year Health and Cancer Plans.
