I can never overstate how much grief is embedded in the lived experience of people who use drugs. Remember that when asking us to come to the table.

Beware of bringing people with “lived experience” on board. There are huge pushes to include LE in policy development, but so much of the stigma PWUD face comes from the “recovery community” - also it’s funny they think harm reduction has funding.

What I find interesting is even for the 10% of people who become addicted to “hard drugs” a regulated supply would still benefit them anyways. They would be less likely to die, not have to worry about being incarcerated for drugs which leads to worse outcomes.

Something that is constantly missing form the conversation on overdose: not everyone is suffering. Drugs are pretty awesome. This whole drugs are bad narrative is a bunch of Prohibitionist nonsense. All drugs have purpose, strengths and limitations.

Stephen Murray, MPH, NRP Labeling all illicit drug use as problematic use is the only way the government can even ever hope to keep the drug war chugging along. Prohibition creates the very environment that it claims to be fighting. Federal legalization and regulation now. Legalize and educate!

Stephen Murray, MPH, NRP One of my unpopular opinions is that severely suicidal people should be offered medical-grade heroin, morphine or hydromorphone as a mental health treatment. I suspect it would save a radically high number of lives.

Reminder to left-leaning press — paywalling your stories is restricting the flow of information to the people who need to read it. Conservative media does not use this tactic nearly as much. The New York Times The Atlantic The Washington Post please find another way!!

The only thing that makes me as as sick as the the leader of the formerly “free world” is the anti-opioid dogma that has infested the minds and work of people who COULD CHANGE IT FOR THE BETTER WHEN THEY KNOW IT’S WRONG.

It fascinating how the demonization of drugs has impacted how people view suboxone and methadone that’s why people are fighting so hard for it to be sober and not “trading one addiction for another”
