Starkville Rotarians heard MIss. State University assistant professor of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology and Plant Pathology Priya Chakrabarti Basu explain the importance of bees and the impacts that stressors have on bees. Stressors have vast global economic impacts.

Our Rotarians are positively buzzing after hearing from Priyadarshini Chakrabarti Basu on the amazing work that is happening through Mississippi State's Chakrabarti_Bee_Lab at MSU. The PCB Lab is studying the effects of the environment on bees and their important pollination capabilities.

Rotarians enjoyed learning more about the process and challenges facing immigrants from former US Immigrant and Naturalization deputy commissioner Ricardo Inzunza. Inzunza's experiences in his role and travels help give a new perspective on those wanting to call America, home.

Our Rotarians enjoyed hearing about the new industrial projects in our area from development extraordinaire Joe Max Higgins of the GTR LINK. Under Higgins's leadership we've seen the region blossom with steel mills, helicopter plants, and more!

3 of 100 Acts of Service: Rotarians Alden Thornhill and Matt Bowen gave tours of Starkville to new international students at MSU! Rotarians like Matt and Alden are always looking for ways to give Service above Self in our community!

Rotarians and MS Army and Air National Guard General (ret.) Harold Cross reflected on the anniversary of 9/11 today. General Cross gave a harrowing account of his time in DC on that fateful day and encouraged Rotarians to continue to construct a more perfect union.

Rotarians were over the clouds hearing about the improvements and new routes for GTR Airport from its CEO Matt Dowell. Under Dowell's leadership, GTRA continues to soar to new heights as a hub for our region.

The future is bright for our beloved Mississippi State Athletics Bulldogs with Zac Selmon at the helm! Mr. Selmon spoke to Rotarians on the importance of supporting our student-athletes, the opportunities that college athletics opens up for thousands of young people, and the importance of NIL.

Starkville Rotarians heard a status report from MSU Electrical and Computer Engineering Associate Professor Bryan Jones on Ukrainian war refugees in the area. Jones said over 60 refugees representing 16 families in the Golden Triangle. He outlined opportunities to help them.
