First grade scientists are exploring earthworms today! Did you know these miniature engineers of soil have five hearts? They are super strong and can push ten times their body weight. They use their skin to breathe because they don't have lungs!

Kindergarten students are measuring pumpkins today! We are comparing how tall, round, and heavy our pumpkins are. Tomorrow, we'll complete a "five senses" lab and taste our roasted pumpkin seeds! PS: Did you know pumpkins float?

As part of the Bridging the Americas program, second grade students attended a presentation about migratory birds led by a National Zoo educator from the Migratory Birds Center. We learned that ruby-throated hummingbirds flap their wings an average of 50 times a second!

Fifth grade and Kindergarten scientists write and send secret cranberry messages! The cranberry juice is an acid, and also contains a special substance called Anthocyanin. The invisible ink we used to write our secret message with, the baking soda mixture, is a base.
