A sincere request to Narendra Modi PMO India Dr Jitendra Singh. The recent increase in custom duty charges to 150% for R&D consumables that falls under HSN9802 code is creating a lot of panic among scientific fraternity in 🇮🇳. All major vendors like Sigma-Aldrich Merck 1/n
Thermo Fisher , etc. have hugely hiked the prices of chemicals, making it difficult to order reagents and run the lab. Also, vendors have no clear instructions how to waive this increase in custom duty charges based on recent govt. order. 2/n
So, I sincerely request our Science India Science, Technology and Innovation in India Principal Scientific Adviser, Govt. of India DSTIndia Department of Biotechnology DBT/WT India Alliance to please revert this hike in custom duty charges for lab chemicals. Otherwise R&D and students training in 🇮🇳 will suffer a lot. JAI HIND. Pls RT 🙏
