In preparation for Cross-Country do your best to RUN everyday. When trying to decide which day to do hills or strides or spend time in the weight room it is not nearly as important as it is to just RUN. When going on family vacation do your best to take your legs with you.

Cross Country is a great metaphor for life. From the outside, it looks like an individual sport. A bunch of people running their own race. But in reality, it's a team sport. The sooner we embrace the team aspect, the better we perform, and the more joy and connection we create.

If you want to succeed in high school cross, remember these three things: • You've got to keep your easy days easy • Sleep is a secret ingredient to your success • You've got to save your best efforts for race day #consistencyiskey, and these lead to consistency in training.

Here’s a phrase I love to use with athletes: "If you want to do things you’ve never done before, you’ve got to do things you’ve never done before." Coaches: This is the time of year to use this phrase. ...this may or may not mean more miles - could be "the little things"...
