Me and @gmodarelli are reworking the world generation for Tides of Revival and have the basics up in a slightly fancy manner: Main app in zig exe, all UI in a cpp DLL, generation nodes in a cpp DLL (eventually ➡️ a zig DLL). We even have a diagram!

Very very cool! Zig definitely sparks joy for me (for the most part!), happy to see other people feel the same way :) Would love to know if this opens any new doors for Zig, for example, maybe hiring someone to fix debug issues on Windows? :D

Pro of WFH: noticing that your 4-year-old is playing with the sink. Not generally a problem but, due to some build error, when the water is too high, it simply falls out below. I stopped in time to just have to use a bunch towels to dry it up... could've been far worse... 💦

I admit this is something we are struggling with with Tides as well. New versions of Zig, Zig plugins, Zig libraries. Poor (but improving) IDE functionality, poor debugging XP. Still, Zig is mostly joyful and Tides is a 5-20+ year endeavor so I'm betting on it paying off :)

It's been happening since Skyrim graphical overhauls came out (and other moddable games before then). I replace a bunch of art, audio, design, in RimWorld with mods I think are better. It's easy. I made mods to remade GTA2 and Liero to my liking. PC Gamer has modding articles.
