I made these two coasters in my glass work class back in October. The first was inspired by my diving escapades, the second was an about going with the flow and picking glass that interested me. (Mostly the shiny ones 🐦) I make sure I take time to create, it’s a necessity.

There’s still such a lack of knowledge of what Dramatherapist’s do and the breadth of our training. We aren’t just glorified sock puppets- I promise you! We ARE trauma informed and know a lot about attachment based trauma’s that can lead to maladaptive coping strategies… 1/2

We’re also experienced in helping individuals discover, develop and implement positive coping mechanisms, vital for emotional regulation (-from an ever growing evidence base) There’s such a need for more awareness around less commonly known AHP’s-the research is there! 2/2

It was such a pleasure to present my journey into Dramatherapy today, at the Midlands Allied Health Professions, Ethnic Minorities meet up (AHPEM) I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the group and sharing some of the key points in my personal journey to my current practice.

If there’s one take home message for the wider NHS network, it’s that we must involve lesser known AHP’s like Dramatherapy into the workforce, lest we risk losing a key part our NHS workforce, because enough wasn’t done in time.

Arts Psychotherapies such as Dramatherapy, fill an important gap, which other psychological interventions struggle to fill. We offer creative tools which can aid in self discovery and self expression, which can help people in their healing journey following significant trauma.
