Yes!! We were about two blowouts from running out this week and couldn’t find wipes anywhere! (Amazon shipment arrived just in time—phew!) I beg of you, adults, please don’t do this!

Aww. I was just wistfully thinking of Strega Nona’s magic pasta pot earlier today. RIP to an author who helped form some of my most visceral childhood reading memories. npr.org/2020/03/30/824…

When I was a teacher, our principal would end the daily announcements by playing “Lovely Day” over the loudspeaker. Even now, I can’t hear the song without also hearing her voice saying “John Bartram High School, you have a lovely day.” 🖤youtu.be/bEeaS6fuUoA

There are many ways in which this program failed to replicate the actual media landscape, but unfortunately, it did replicate the power structures, access pipeline, and racial makeup of just about every pub I went on to work for.

I would. And I’d make sure we used a variety of letters and numbers of the day. And I’d balance classic bits with new ones. And no more “Plan to Play/Play the Plan” (if you know, you know)....

Super interesting article about how we learn to read vs how it’s been taught (plus, interesting implications for remote learning!)

I worry our public education system is being gutted. I also worry that racial segregation in our schools is deepening. To me, these “pods” risk increasing the racial and class separation already cemented by residential segregation and gentrification in US neighborhoods.

I think I have a definitive answer to the dividing line between genX and millennials If you were born before MTV existed, you’re GenX; if you were born after, you’re a millennial.

“Individual freedom has been warped into the idea that we’re all on our own & if someone can’t afford chemo or rent, or a business gets hit by the worst health crisis in a century, it’s not our problem...unless they put up a website compelling enough to convince us otherwise.”
