Well, well, well, hello Twitter! I'm not a big Twitter person, it's too hard to limit what I write when I update!! So if anyone is seeing this that hasn't seen me here in a long while, HELLO! I'm usually found on facebook or Instagram online, and in my yard the rest of the time!

Pt 1 ~ New pest 2 -- Day Lily Midge. If you notice any suddenly deformed flower buds on your day lilies... you have day lily midges :(

Pt 2 ~ Female uses ovipositor to lay eggs inside day lily flower bud (protects them from insecticides & predators). VERY TINY Hard to see

Pt 3 ~ When larvae get big enough, they drop to soil, burrow in & pupate till next spring & cycle starts anew ruining ALL blooms #yeg

Pt 4 ~ To manage midges, pick infested buds, open them up & put into soapy water to drown the larvae. #climatechange #NewGardenPests #yeg
