I don’t think I’ll ever understand how it’s not safe for hrsb or nscc to be open but it’s apparently safe for off-campus students to get to and from smu 🤷‍♀️

Slipped and fell before I even reached the first crosswalk. It’s not for drivers or pedestrians, certainly not the reasonable standard of safety one would hope we are aiming for. I’m disappointed. Saint Mary’s University Dalhousie University hfxgov

To say the roads are bad is a tad of an understatement. Hunker down and stay put to allow the plows out to do the job. And GET YOUR STORMCHIPS!

Update 2: students are contacting myself and others at SMUSA, they have class and midterms today and are terrified to drive but don’t want to suffer academically. One student: “What will it take for it to close? What if I get in an accident?” Saint Mary’s University Mount Saint Vincent University

Update 3: The unofficial attendance from what I’ve seen is roughly 25%, though many have less. The students who are in attendance are frustrated and upset. Many are asking why we are open when Halifax_Police has said to stay off the roads. Saint Mary’s University Mount Saint Vincent University

Really disappointed to see Saint Mary’s University open today. Our students are really frustrated and disappointed that the University is still open despite all the warnings and other Universities being closed. students are putting themselves at risk coming to University in this weather.

Dear students, We have been seeing and hearing your feedback about the University remaining open in these weather conditions. We have been in constant communication with the University to express your concerns for your safety getting to and leaving campus.

Shocked and disgusted that Saint Mary’s University (and Mount Saint Vincent University) remained open today. Halifax_Police asked us to stay off the roads, and you let classes continue to take place. We students, staff and faculty got the message loud and clear: You don't care about our safety or wellbeing.

I guess what I'm trying to say is... Saint Mary’s University, it doesn't take a Ph.D. to know that you put your students, faculty and staff in needless danger today. Kind of hard to #DoWhatYouDo if you get injured or killed...
