Just as a reminder, this is not a troll account. This account is made to report on the history of Splash Mountain in an accurate way using objective information. There is no “gimmick” here. Can’t believe this had to be clarified.

Most of these existed prior to Splash Mountain being added to Walt Disney World, please stop the clickbait. WDWNT lied about a Splash Mountain sign at Tokyo Disneyland, please do not follow in their footsteps.

Giving Joel Chandler Harris credit over African Americans is blatant racism. The stories shouldn’t be ruined due to him. Also, he did not collect the stories out of malicious intentions. A second of research would tell you he spent the rest of his life fighting for equal rights.

This map has existed for decades, why are we now bringing it up? This has been brought up by two Disney “news” sites now, and I don’t get the point other than to start drama.

“That’s what the children need. They need to see something innocent, right? Today, you know, there’s so much negativity, we need to take the kids back to innocence, at least in the beginning, you know?” - Nick Stewart talking about Brer Bear & Splash Mountain in 1989

Fun fact! In April 1963, the Uncle Remus Museum opened in Eatonton, Georgia, the home town of Joel Chandler Harris. The goal of the museum is to educate visitors about the Brer Rabbit stories, as well as to preserve artifacts related to the stories.
