[THREAD] 1. Saw GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS a second time on a whim -- a theater near an ice cream parlor happened to be playing it. Seeing it on a much smaller screen diminished the spectacle but made me appreciate how well most of the world-building pieces fit together.

Y'all, I want to do a book about the making of Deadwood that looks like a Bible from about 1900, with original illustrations in the style of a Dickens novel. My question is, if I did that as an independent limited-run project, would you buy a copy? Cost would be $30.

“I thought the 1970s sucked.” DAZED AND CONFUSED (1993) “was supposed to be an anti-nostalgic movie. But it’s like trying to make an anti-war movie—just by depicting it, you make it look fun.” Richard Linklater Guardian Film — theguardian.com/film/2019/jun/…

Credit the artist. Credit the writer. Credit the filmmaker. Link to things so that people can make money from their art. Don’t just screenshot stuff without credit, it’s being a bad citizen in the online economy, which is already nearly fucking impossible to make a living in.

"This is how you do this kind of movie: loud, glittery, shameless, with feeling, and dazzling control of craft." I wrote a little bit about ROCKETMAN here, which I loved. Link: rogerebert.com/mzs/30-minutes…
