I’m 22 and I haven’t drank in about two years.
And I don’t miss it one bit.
I went though a party phase early on in my life
I quickly realized going out drinking was not getting me any closer to my goals
Nothing is worth feeling like shit.
I’m thinking of creating a course on Maven to teach the one skill that's helped me the most in my career...
...POWER WRITING
- Got me my dream job in tech back in 2012
- Grew my twitter by 100k followers in 4 months
- Drove over $5m in sales
What is power writing?
Teaching
Surprisingly, a lot of my happiness comes from teaching nowadays.
Helping other people in whatever way possible is my favorite way to energize myself.
Plus point: you also get better at your craft when you teach.
It's a win-win.
From the book Atomic Habits
When in pursuit of a goal, there is a difference between being in motion and being in action
Motion = talking, studying, planning, organising
Action = tangible physical action that gets results
Don't confuse motion with action
Most of the smart people I know journal themself and recommend journaling.
Something I have been wanting to get into for long but been putting off.
This year I have made an effort to journal regularly & I must admit that the effects have been really therapeutic so far.
Love this thread.
Really brings home the point that it's okay to keep changing. Infact it's needed.
Not just as an organisation but also just as a person.
Social psychology studies the actions and emotions of people in the social context.
Because one thing is for sure.. people change in social situations and act atypically.
Social psychology addresses this atypical behaviour.
People have two fundamental needs
1) control
2) aham - feeling of self importance
When they are unable to ensure these by themselves they try to snatch it from other people.
