If your son wants to play college FB but thinks his HS coaches are too hard on him, he probably doesn’t need to pursue college ball…it’s an entirely different level of urgency and intensity. It’s ok to just be a fan. Being coached hard isn’t for everyone and that’s ok.

3 Truths I’ve learned… **Not everyone’s going to like you, it doesn’t mean everyone dislikes you **If someone’s not good for you, no matter how much you care, you have to part ways **Listen to the people who will tell you tough things you don’t want to hear #WordsofChizdom

Me: "I deserve to play." We: "I have to earn my role." Me: "They don't like me." We: "I have to earn their trust." Me: "I want to quit." We: "We're in this together." Me: "They won't even know." We: "That's not how we do things here." Me gets you beat. We gets you far.

PLAYERS: Anyone can have a good attitude when they're playing well, the team is winning, they're getting playing time, or the refs are not "picking on them". But a person's true colors show when things are not going well. Aim to have a good attitude no matter the circumstances.

You want to know how to tell if a team is reaching its full potential? Watch the best players. If the best players are the hardest workers, the team will reach its potential. If the best players are lazy and entitled and give poor effort, that team will always underachieve.

COACHES: It's hard to hold your players accountable if you're not holding yourself accountable. Set the standard. Be the example.

I don’t care what sport it is, this is on point. Body language matters. Attitude matters. Caring about your teammates matters. And, accountability to those things matters. I screwed this up a few times. Never change the standard because someone is talented

PLAYERS: You must take ownership in your team. It's 'we', 'us', and 'ours', not 'they', 'them', or 'their'. Win or lose, playing or sitting ... you are responsible for being a good teammate, positive leader, energy-giver, and verbal encourager. You are all in this together.

Having Assistant Coaches That • Put the Team First 🏆 • Care About The Individual Player ❤️ • Have Head Coaches Back 💪 • Not Afraid To Give Advice 🗣 • Humble if Their Advice Isn’t Used Great assitant coaches make the team successful in ways the head coach cant do alone

For all the Sub-Varsity Kids out there on playoff teams. Yes it’s just practice. No you probably won’t get in the game. But you’re getting live reps against a playoff team. This will help you separate yourself for next year. Make the most of it.

PLAYERS: There are two important things that you can control - your ATTITUDE & EFFORT. Your coaches don't determine this. Your teammates don't determine this. Your parents don't determine this. Only you can determine your level of effort and attitude.

You wanna be successful in sports year in and year out? Hire a professional S&C Coach and implement it at the middle school level.

PLAYERS: ◾️ Just because you're a FROSH doesn't mean you can't be a leader. ◾️ Just because you're a SOPH doesn't mean you learned it all last year. ◾️ Just because you're a JR doesn't mean you get to be on varsity. ◾️ Just because you're a SR doesn't mean you get to start.
