Well, friends, we now live in a country where the government passes laws that encompass the conditions to be found in other countries. What species of nonsense is this?

UK Prime Minister To legislate that any foreign territory is 'safe' (or indeed 'unsafe' or any other subjective & self interested judgement about conditions under another government) is nonsensical, meaningless, detached from reality & makes a mockery of UK law.

Home Office Passing a law to designate the safety or otherwise of any country does not in anyway impact the reality of the situation in that country. This is the craziest, most dishonest legislation I have ever seen a UK government pass.

The government has not addressed the crisis in social care at all - and now the DWP's busy prosecuting those who shield the state from the true cost of care by caring for their loved ones at home, without wages.

Caroline Lucas This is an act of performative cruelty, I think it’s illegal, immoral and it’s unworkable
The idea that you have a 1% chance of going to Rwanda in unlikely to deter you
If we had safe routes people wouldn’t have to put their life’s at risk in this way

Nonambulatory—or “downed”—pigs in slaughterhouses are often left lying in waste for hours as they are “saved for last.” USDA records describe these sick or injured animals being kicked, prodded, shocked, dragged, and beaten in attempts to make them stand and walk. 💔

Tory MPs have just voted again to insist that Afghans who worked for our armed forces & who put their own lives at risk for our country can be sent to Rwanda.

Against military advice.

And against the pledges Ministers made to support those who supported us

For 14 years governments have created a nation with rising levels of sickness & failing resources for health & social care. Today's government is now targeting sick, elderly & disabled people & blaming them for the governments' economic troubles. Rishi Sunak

We don’t have a “sicknote culture” here in Wales, we have sick and disabled people. We need a culture that supports these people, and to create a political system that can sustainably bring a more Compassionate Cymru into being ✍️@JamesLDowns

So the government invites people to spend the evening drinking rather than listen to and engage in the debate. Is this because they know this is a nonsensical piece of legislation that some of their MPs may be embarrassed about?
