Thank you to The Film and TV Charity for allowing me to use their beautiful space to host an event for under-represented post talent to meet with hiring managers. Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to come along. I know it meant a lot to not just me but all the talent too

Today The Film and TV Charity publishes a new report into the mental health of Jewish Arab & Muslim people working in film and TV since October 7th. It's a groundbreaking survey, I am incredibly proud of. Read the full report but here are some highlights (thread): filmtvcharity.org.uk/assets/documen…

We’ve decided to open the doors again for a bit. We’ll chat to writers big or small, repped or no, U.K. based with large scope ideas. Something that would sit with a streamer. Something that is accessible across countries. Wow us. Big ideas, with ambitious story telling.

Thread 🧵 theres nothing quite like hearing from people at the sharp end of what’s happening to freelancers struggling to find work in TV atm to illustrate that this is a crisis that all industry stakeholders should be working to resolve & not just @Bectu and The Film and TV Charity

For anyone wondering where they can see HOARD in cinemas from Friday, here is a handy list! vertigoreleasing.com/movie/hoard?ci…

The opening weekend obsession HAS to stop, surely. Look how many films have proved the longer game leads to success (Anyone But You etc). Also in a cost of living crisis maybe people are waiting for payday or spreading out their cinema trips but they still want to go?!

The collapse of windowing has destroyed what was already a fragile business model. We're seeing an even bigger obsession with opening weekend BO as there is now precious little home ent and downstream revenues. So theatrical just acts as the opening salvo for a digital release.

6 Chancellors in 6 years. 6 Health Secretaries in 5. 9 Education Secretaries in 9. If they were a Head Teacher, their school would be in Special Measures. If they ran a branch of a bank, they’d be under arrest. A disgraceful rabble unfit for office: take them away!

The UK film system is far from perfect but at least we don't have to deal with this. Mad that this was ever considered the best way to do things. screendaily.com/news/swedish-f…

Our film and TV industry slowdown survey found that 38% of respondents planned to leave the industry in the next five years, up from 24% in September 2023 and 37% in February 2024 🎦 This figure is even higher in unscripted TV, with more than half saying they plan to leave.
