The Duncan Bannatyne had a single sex changing room policy from the get go. He didn’t need to be threatened with legal action or wait for EHRC guidance before The Bannatyne Group clubs gave safety, privacy and dignity to its female membership

Editors have the power to stop all this nonsense in its tracks: they just have to allow their journalists to report accurately what is happening. But they won’t allow it. Imagine the peaking if the headline read: “Masked protestors disrupt women’s free speech event — mostly

This is the cul-de-sac that orgs/officials/institutions now find themselves in. They’ve been given plenty of off-ramps, especially with the Cass Review, yet some insist on going down with this pseudoscientific ship.

1/ Would be Intervenors in the Supreme Court must obtain permission by demonstrating they are raising significant points of law of public importance. Here permission was rightly denied because the SC does not entertain anecdotes or repetition. theguardian.com/society/2025/a…

Please read this thread on the unviability of this claim. Too many journalists are taking him seriously. Previously McCloud was actually taken seriously enough by the BBC to devote a whole programme to him, which contained too many groundless statements for them to challenge. /

At some point journalists have got to explain this point to readers, listeners and viewers: they have largely avoided doing this, implying that anyone with ‘lived experience’ was entitled to intervene at the UK Supreme Court hearing. It’s gained traction & money has been raised

Michael Foran (@michaelpforan) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I would be shocked if this wasn’t dismissed as manifestly unfounded. There simply isn’t a right to intervene in cases just because the outcome might affect you. If McCloud had a right to intervene, everyone did. We’re all affected by this case. theguardian.com/society/2025/a…

Might as well just rename yourself the Gender Ideology Book Prize. Eligibility: those who sign up to the sexist minority ideology that gender identity overrides sex, excluding a huge chunk of lesbian and gay people.

Peter Daly (@peter_daly) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Success for McCloud would fundamentally undermine the rule of law because no SC judgment would be reliable - a would-be intervenor could pop up months or years after the event and demand a do-over. (1/5) x.com/michaelpforan/…

Statement m LGB Alliance ‘The TQ+ lobby corrupts everything it touches. This year there will be no winner of the Polari Prize, no celebration of fantastic LGB authors, no one's career boosted. All because a few activists found the reality of same-sex attraction - and a gay

1. We are disappointed that Polari Prize organisers have chosen not to run this year’s competition, following the discriminatory actions of some authors and activists against the inclusion of John Boyne’s work on the longlist.
