I don't get how people are planning to sidestep the very basic problem that if you don't have junior hires right now, you won't have experienced people 5 or 10 years later.

Let's not forget that "hard work" meant more opportunities for them. They could start with 0 skills, paid miserably yes but to learn ANY job, and the effort was almost always a guarantee of success. Now I get rejected for internships while holding a Master Degree.

Pftt in Italy wives don't change surnames since... I think 1865. Kids automatically take the surname of the father (but since 2022 you can choose the other parent) and my mother, and other Italian women, never had any problems with her kids not sharing her surname 🤷‍♂️
