Did you know that the snow bunting is the only songbird on Svalbard? It is actually the northernmost breeding passerine species. Check out the linktree in our bio for more information. NTNU NINAnature UNIS #svalbard #snowbunting #birds #conservation

Monitored nests are found on cable way towers previously used for coal transportation, by other human-made constructions, as well as in rocky terrain. As long as they have a roof they can breed there. NINAnature @ntnu UNIS #snowbunting #svalbard #conservation #bird

Snow buntings lay 1 egg per day for 5 to 8 days! Making it easy to determine start and end of egg laying, so we can come back 11 days later when the eggs have hatched. If shes already finished laying eggs, we can age the eggs with a float test. @unisvalbard @ntnu NINA naturforskning
