Have always believed that deeply.

The latest health data is astounding.

The average hospital visit for a patient surviving homelessness is ~17,000.

The average cost for supportive housing per month is $3,500.

Housing for all is a matter of human dignity and sound economics.

Sigh. Imagine the degree to which we could have kickstarted a Canadian clean energy revolution with CAD $34 billion.

If you work in health care in Canada, it's worth spending some time reading this paper carefully.

Advocacy is central to our role and responsibility as physicians. I truly believe we can improve the health of patients and communities by working together for change.

Getting rid of sick notes for illnesses ≤3 days is a good step forward for reducing unnecessary admin work for family docs.

Continuity of care - improves outcomes, decreases cost, AND decreases mortality. Continuity of relationship IN AND OF itself is therapeutic.

We need to ensure that as we 'create access' we are doing it in ways that improve outcomes - so let's focus on continuity - it matters!

Continuity is the not-so-secret sauce to a robust health system that improves health outcomes amongst other things. Health systems need to provide the environment in which this is possible for family physicians and primary care professionals.
