Happy migration day! Polygon | Aggregated undergoes its token migration from MATIC to POL today. Just 1% of the supply has made the move, but expect a large jump when the bridge and stake manager undergo the migration later today.

The claim that Base has no "sequencer fees" does not seem accurate to me Base and all other OP Stack chains do not use FIFO ordering. These chains order txs within a block based on priority fees, so users can pay more to be top of block. This is extracting arbitrage/MEV profits

So it turns out, even after the edit, Justin Ðrake 🦇🔊's argument falls apart because the majority of Base's revenue actually doesn't come from 1559 base fees (which could be captured by a decentralized sequencer) they come from priority fees (which can't). Thanks to an anon

It’s never been easier to learn how to check the chain, a pivotal skill! ilemi is truly the goat. Anyone looking to learn the ropes needs to check this out

Dan Smith | BWR And just for more context, this is a rough view in to the top priority fee payers by chain: dune.com/oplabspbc/prio… Usually high-frequency trading bots, paying to get at the top of the block / capture some opportunity

The priority fees from transactions in the top 3 slots of blocks on Base account for 60% of total fees on the chain The top slot alone does 40% of total fees

Ok, let’s say L2s shouldn’t want to extract MEV because it would be at the expense of their users. This is commendable, but is going based the solution then? There would be even more MEV in based rollups, and that fact was even a part of the original sales pitch…

RANDO PressieMoonBoy cobie ) ) ) ) N Gwart Priority fees capture MEV Users aren’t paying to be top of block for funsies, it’s to win arbs. 40% of total transaction fees are just priority fees to be the first tx in the block 40%, from just the first tx in every block It’s MEV
