Congratulations to National Council for History Education and The Astronauts Memorial Foundation at Kennedy Space Center for receiving a 2022 Landmarks grant! Their project, The Space Age on the Space Coast, will examine the connections between the space race, political culture, civil rights, and technology between the 1950s-1970s.

"it may seem obtuse to suggest that we still need better data about these instructors. But the reality is: To advocate effectively on their behalf, we need much better data."

I’m very honored to be featured on the Today Show. I’m even happier that they decided to highlight the good about the city, instead of the bad 💪🏾💯.

Without a doubt one of the most profoundly moving works of architecture I have ever visited. And I have had the very good fortune to visit a lot of amazing places all over the world. Grundtvigs Kirke (“Grundtvig’s Church”), Copenhagen, Peder Vilhelm Jensen Klint, 1921-40.

For historians who want to better understand their job market, here's an interactive that directly embeds every ad posted since 2002 from the AHA's own jobs board. observablehq.com/@bmschmidt/aha… You can slice down to see--e.g.--how many jobs list any country, like "Japan".

It's World Space Week and the theme is women in space! To celebrate, I'm going to tweet about the women of the Voyager Golden Records. The Voyager 1 and 2 deep space probes were launched in 1977 and are currently outside the solar system. voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/ World Space Week

Just learning the #SAHDataProject final report was published this morning. Congrats Society of Architectural Historians (SAH). Seeing the cover for the first time--looks sharp! Eager to dive in at some point soon. Really hoping this data helps some of you now & improves things for future arch historians, too.

Thrilled to hear Governor JB Pritzker selected a developer that plans to reuse the blg! We have long advocated for preservation of the Helmut Jahn-designed Thompson Center, & we look forward to learning more about the reuse design and assisting the development team wherever possible.
