Last month our team was involved with field trials at sea in Shetland abroad vessel Atlantia II. Here the gate component of Smartrawl was trialled in collaboration with UHI Shetland.

Last month, the patented gate component of Smartrawl was field tested out of Scalloway, Shetland. Field trials were carried out by Research Assistant Rosie Ashworth from Heriot-Watt University and with Senior Fisheries Scientist Shaun Fraser (UHI). Stay tuned for video footage!

Smartrawl is a discard and bycatch reduction device that can be pre programmed by fishermen to catch specific species and release all other marine animals back into the marine environment. Check out our video to better understand how it works!

Over the past 2 weeks, the Smartrawl team has been based at the Heriot-Watt University Climate Hub alongside COP28 UAE. We have been fortunate enough to engage with a wide audience including government officials, industry professionals, politicians and many more!

We were extremely honoured to present Smartrawl to King Charles III during His Majesty's tour of the Cleantech Exhibition at Heriot-Watt University, Dubai Campus. It was also a privilege to showcase Smartrawl a few days later to Scotland's First Minister, Humza Yousaf! #COP28
