Here’s what needs to happen now: On Monday morning, the Mountain West Conference must issue a statement saying its replay official for the Northern Colorado-Colorado State made an egregious error on a game-deciding play and has been suspended for the rest of the season.

Saw Josh Allen once, covering an Utah State-Wyoming game. I thought he was really good. Arm strength/mobility reminded me of young John Elway. But now? Never dreamed he’d be this good. The guy is a freaking magician.

I’ve not seen a statement yet from the Mountain West about the end of N. Colorado-Colorado State game. If none is made, we can only assume the MWC doesn’t care to address the perception that a replay official wrongly decided a game in favor of a conference team. Bush league.

Does NIL money make a difference? Two years ago, Texas Tech lost to Wyoming. Today, Texas Tech looked like a Top 10 team against Utah.

It’s 7-7 in the eighth. Go-ahead runner on second. Two outs. Pitcher falls behind 3-1. With first base open, you still throw a belt-high fastball down the middle. It results in a homer and a 9-7 deficit. What a miserable pitch/mistake/likely loss. Go Cubs?

Assume the Red Sox spend a day or two during spring training on bunting. Two feeble/failed attempts with two on and nobody out in the 7th of a 3-3 tie might have changed the trajectory of their postseason.

Colorado State might win only one game this season and it wouldn’t have that one except for a bad call by a replay official with eight seconds left against Northern Colorado. This the team that is supposed to deliver the crowded Denver sports market to the new Pac 12.

New Pac 12 “flagships” Oregon State (0-4), Washington State (0-1) and Boise State (0-1) have lost all six of their games against P4 schools by a combined total of 144 points.

My hope for the rest of the series now is a Cub player hits a home run off Misiorowski and takes 2 1/2 minutes to round the bases.

I think Misiorowski’s unassisted putout and Uribe’s weird celebratory antics after getting the final out got the Cubs’ attention. The question is, will anybody do anything about it? Personally, I’d like to see the Cub pitcher go up and in on the first Brewer batter in Game 3.

If the Cubs lose, Suzuki’s horrible at-bat with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth will be the turning point.

Credit where credit is due: Suzuki battled the lights on a sinking line drive to make the catch and retire the side in the 7th. Odd the “expert” announcers didn’t say anything about the lights making that an excellent play.

There is a time and a place in baseball for small ball and we’ve seen it about four times in these extra innings. I don’t understand why it’s not used.

Time Flies Department: I covered my first game at the Tribune 45 years ago. Weber State beat Montana, 38-21, in front of 14K at Stewart Stadium. The Wildcats improved to 4-1 but lost their last six games, including 75-0 in the finale to Portland State and coach Mouse Davis.
