We're revisiting a much requested topic for the second half of July: screen time. We all use screens these days but it can be helpful to be mindful of how we use them to make sure we get the benefits while reducing the risks. Here's some food for thought for all of us. #sltfv

Did last week's video make you think? Lots of us make use of screens every day, & that's not likely to change. We like the idea of 'healthy' screen time. The questions in our visual help us think about this. Come back later for our top tips for using screentime well. #sltfv

(1) It might feel like the holidays have only just started, but we're sharing resources to help plan starting or going to school or nursery. Today, Lets visualise the number of days left before school or nursery starts.

(2) Concepts of time can be a bit abstract, especially for little ones, so using a calendar can be helpful. You can draw a picture to show the day that school starts and help your child to cross off the days running up to it.

(3) We've included a sample here, but any calendar would do - you and your child could even draw your own one. We've also included a version that works in 'sleeps' and lets you plan what you are going to do each day in the run up to school. #sltfv #BackToSchool

For children starting school, there is lots to think about: new routines, new people to meet and lots of new vocabulary. Today, we’re thinking about the different adults in primary school with an activity to help you talk about these with your child. #sltfv #BackToSchool
