The The Spartan Daily won the Associated Collegiate Press national Pacemaker award in Best Newspaper and took 6 other national honors at the Fall National College Media Convention in Atlanta. The Daily took 4 national 1st place awards, and Access Magazine also won 1 national first place award. (1/4)

The The Spartan Daily also took 2nd place nationwide in the College Media Association Pinnacle Award contest for Best Newspaper. The Daily's special issue on Mental Health took 1st place nationwide as Best Special Issue, and its front page also won 1st place as Best Special Section Cover. (2/4)

The The Spartan Daily had a very good night at the San Francisco Press Club Awards Wednesday evening. The Daily was named Best College Newspaper and won 15 other awards at the gala at the Elks Lodge in San Francisco. (Thanks to Michael Stoll for the photo of me with the awards certificates.)

The The Spartan Daily took third place nationwide for Best Newspaper in the Associated Collegiate Press Best of Show competition on Saturday, one of 11 national and statewide awards won by the Daily at the ACP national convention at the Hyatt Regency Aventine in La Jolla. (1/5)

In the CCMA statewide awards, also held at the national convention, the The Spartan Daily took 2nd place statewide for Best Special Issue/Section. Alicia Alvarez won two CCMA awards Saturday, winning first place for Best Editorial Cartoon and second for Best Newspaper Column. (3/5)

In tonight's Greater Bay Area Journalism Awards, the The Spartan Daily took 10 first place awards, 13 second places and four third places. Alicia Alvarez took three awards, winning first place for Best News Story and second for Best Column and Best News Photo.  (1/6)
