An ACORN Haringey member has been living in one-room emergency accommodation for 2 YEARS with her three children after fleeing domestic violence. We've just been to Haringey Council to deliver a letter demanding that she is found a suitable home.

64 charities are at the risk of closure due to £4.5 million worth of proposed cuts. This will have devastating effects for tenants, for workers and for communities across Edinburgh. Let's defend our community centres, services & jobs. Join us to say NO to Labour-led cuts!

Over 300 turned out last night in the cold to demand the Scottish government deliver rent controls. This bill isn’t perfect, but it will deliver an inflation based rent cap that lasts between tenancies - the most significant transfer of power to renters since before Thatcher!

This housing bill wasn’t gifted. Living Rent has grown into a mass membership community union with thousands of members across Scotland. The union power we have built has delivered the bill, but the fight continues to prevent it being watered down by landlords and developers.

“It’s time for the Scottish Government to act and bring rents down.” Ahead of today’s Holyrood Housing Bill vote, Living Rent rallied outside of Parliament last night to demand robust rent controls. #Skotia

Hi Ben Macpherson MSP, I'm a tenant in your area. if you are serious about ending the housing emergency and child poverty, you have to vote for proper rent controls today. #RentControlsNow

You're putting up some strong competition for "stupidest thing I've ever read" with your latest article Alex. A (longish) thread on why.. 🧵1/19

Throughout his piece, Alex is reliant on the tired argument that landlords will leave the market when Scotland introduces RC. But the evidence shows that the number of PRS properties has remained stable in the last two years - when he knows 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 had a form of rent control. 5/19

Right now, the Scottish Parliament is debating the Housing Bill, which if passed will see rent controls be able to be introduced across Scotland. Big up our sister union Living Rent who have fought tooth and nail for this for years!🤞

.Emma Roddick MSP is right. The majority of people across Scotland support rent controls. 90% of SNP voters 🟡 88% of Labour voters 🔴 And even 61% of Conservative voters 🔵

The closure of Grangemouth oil refinery shows that the fossil fuel industry doesn't care about its workers or the climate. Climate activists are standing with these workers to demand a credible plan to transition to secure renewable jobs for the long term. #JustTransition

Reps and Unite Scottish Secretary met MSPs from all parties inside and next week Sharon Graham meets Keir Starmer. Unite want a pause to the refinery closure, independent review of the asset, and support for their clear plan outlining a future for the refinery site

Living Rent members were deeply concerned to hear Mark Griffin last week say he intends to amend against rent controls tied to the property. This would make the housing bill worse than useless, and spike rents. We are counting on your support for robust rent controls Richard!
