Remember when people used to commute for 2 hours a day, sit in an office chair for 8H, and spend the day slacking or emailing people in the same building It truly wasn’t a better time.

In 1999, a little book by Kent Beck 🌻 started explaining Extreme Programming (XP) to the masses. 23 years later, it's still true to every word. But we, the developers, chose to ignore half of its learnings. In this thread 🧵I'll fix that for you. 👇👇👇

So here's why I bought a receipt printer: Every time one of my GitHub repos gets a new issue, I now get a physical ticket printed out on my desk 🪄

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but for distributed teams I now prefer async brainstorming over synchronous brainstorming sessions. Both have their pros & cons, but the benefits of async (inclusivity/transparency/deep work/etc) outweigh those of a sync'd meeting. Jackie O | she/siya 🇵🇭🇺🇸 Doist

One of the companies I interviewed with ended up restoring my faith in technical interviews. Before the interview, they had me check out a GitHub repo in my language of choice, get familiar with the code base and asked me to show up with the repo loaded to my favorite IDE. 1/n

It's very difficult to say how ridiculous it is to change a great logo, of a very strong brand like Twitter, with what appears to be the old logo of the Unix X server: it's so cringe it only lacks blue leds. To set this in the ridiculous scale I would require a logarithmic one.
