ICYMI: Actor and director Samuel West (Samuel West 💙💛) has called on politicians to stop "talking down" arts degrees, warning that ignoring their value could lead to them becoming regarded as a "middle-class hobby" 👇 thestage.co.uk/news/samuel-we…
Something very, very exciting is happening British Library Medieval Women: In Their Own Words, our new major exhibition, opens on 25 October Get your tickets now, they're cheaper than #Oasis and more chance of encountering Margery Kempe 😉 blogs.bl.uk/digitisedmanus…
A sublime new exhibition British Library on the #SilkRoadOasis Dunhuang & the Mogao caves. Extraordinary treasures from the famous Cave 17 which was home to 70,000 manuscripts and more written information about medieval Asia (and beyond) than any site in the world.
Totally consider a morning in a beautiful Victorian cemetery a huge perk of the job (on top of good session with/by The National Lottery Heritage Fund North team)
A treat to be at the launch of Furnace Fruit exhibition last night - a body of work by Karanjit Panesar inspired by the stories of Punjabi workers in British foundries. It’s the second Collections in Dialogue artist commission from British Library and Leeds Art Gallery.
Also in this week’s Yorkshire adventures: lovely sunsets, aesthetically pleasing tea (not pictured: less aesthetically pleasing videocall over said tea), and Tracy_Chevalier’s latest novel which I’m very excited about.
Some truly amazing collections on display, so many interesting (and still relatable, centuries on…) stories in their own words indeed - Medieval Women exhibition opens tomorrow at British Library! Oh, and *fantastic* exhibition book too 📜
What are these ladies doing, as pictured in Christine de Pisan's medieval book? BUILDING THE CITY OF LADIES, obvs. You must go and see them & more in the superb new British Library exhibition 'Medieval Women in the Own Words.' I loved it. blogs.bl.uk/digitisedmanus…
Joan of Arc’s signature ! ‘The new exhibition British Library on Medieval Women is full of wonders
