On the 2nd day of my visit to Wayanad, my parliamentary constituency that has been badly hit by devastating floods, I met with members of the media to update them on my review meetings with state & district officials and my visits to affected sites and relief camps.

It's been 20 days since the people of Jammu & Kashmir had their freedom & civil liberties curtailed. Leaders of the Opposition & the Press got a taste of the draconian administration & brute force unleashed on the people of J&K when we tried to visit Srinagar yesterday.

As a part of an official delegation, I today met with the PM of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency, Lee Nak-yon and other officials, in Seoul. We discussed a wide range of issues, including the current political & economic situation in our respective countries.

After seeing the intel, I don’t believe it supports conclusion that killing Soleimani will stop Iranian plotting or reduce risk to American lives. Trump’s decision does, however, increase likelihood of war with Iran and threaten our gains against ISIS. It was a reckless move.

The New Year has begun with our world in turmoil. My message is clear: Stop escalation. Exercise maximum restraint. Re-start dialogue. Renew international cooperation. Let us not forget the terrible human suffering caused by war. It is our common duty to avoid it.
