Today, and every day, we have a very simple message. When politicians attack migrants for political gain, they're attacking all of us: our families, our loved ones, our neighbours, our colleagues - our communities. We welcome newcomers, and we always will.

The government's announcement this morning was an insult to those who have made the UK their home. These migrants are not "strangers", they are our friends, neighbours and family members. It is shameful that they are being scapegoated in this way.

An 'island of strangers'? That doesn't sound like the Britain we know. Migrants are our families, our friends, our neighbours, our colleagues. Our lives and our history are built on migration - attacking it means attacking us, our loved ones, our communities, and our economy.

Farage is, bit by bit, shifting the electorate in his direction, pressing buttons on Net Zero, immigration, culture wars and much else. It’s actually mind blowing that some think parroting his rhetoric will see him off. Britain is sleep walking into a generational nightmare.
