A small project: software AY-3-8910 sound chip emulator running on Arduino Nano, along with a PT3 format player. Stereo sound coming out of two PWM channels. The quality isn't too great, but may serve as an example of sound synthesis on the platform. Source code is at my webpage.

Made a few gamepad conversion projects recently. The first one is an iconic Famiclone pad, complete with the phone jack. This is a hackjob that used a modern wire USB pad, USB hub, and USB headset complete with a Type C converter, all crammed inside the tiny case. Meh, but works.

Another gamepad-related project was this one. It used to be the DirectPadPro LPT adapter I made in early 2000s. Now it is ESP32-S3 powered PS1-to-USB converter with LED indication for all buttons. Actually turned out to be useful to check and fix up my 27 y.o. controllers a bit.

Finally, another iconic Famiclone gamepad conversion. Got this one converted to a wireless Bluetooth one using ESP32-C3 SuperMini. The original pad is quite bulky, so it presumably has a lot of room inside, but in reality barely managed to fit everything. Feels pretty cool, tho!

Another obscure addition to my portables collection, complete in box even. This is MegaDrive Portable, an unlicensed portable that was popular around sometime in 2006-2010. It uses its own tiny cartridge format and hacked games, but behind the looks is almost regular 16-bit Sega.

A couple games for the MegaDrive Portable. The production quality is meh, but looks quite nice otherwise. They boxes are really small, about 10x10 centimeters large, and the cartridge is tiny.

Another NDSi of mine. A very cool pink color. The condition is meh, but all works, just the power button needs a bit more effort to use. Someone tried to lube the shoulders with silicon, and it was dripping it out for a long while. Gifted this one to a friend who enjoyed it much.

Made my own switchless region and 50/60 Hz mod for a PAL SNES, Arduino-driven. Nothing special here, it is as simple as the one with the switches, no clock frequency change or other fixes, just controlled via reset button instead of switches. Modes are displayed with a RGB LED.

Here is how the switchless SNES mod controlled via Reset button. Short press is normal reset, 1s hold is 50/60 switch, 2s hold is CIC enable/disable (LED blinks). The modes are displayed with red/blue or green/cyan colors. The mode is stored in the EEPROM with the wear leveling.

SNES: habr.com/ru/companies/r…

Got this Sega Mega Drive 2 clone recently. It is so poorly made, extremely low build quality and materials, so I returned it despite the low price ($13). Can't describe why, photos does not show it well, but it is just unpleasant to touch. Seems I wasn't the first to return it.

A small addition to my portables collection, Benesse Pocket Challenge V2. It is basically a version of WonderSwan made for educational purposes. Going to try to modify it into WS-compatible. Not sure if it even works, tho, as I don't have cartridges for either of the systems yet.

This is not your regular Arduino Uno. It is ELBEAR ACE-UNO, powered with MK32 Amur (RISC-V), about the only modern-ish MCU that is presumably produced in Russia and can be bought at free market. Very expensive due to small runs, but very interesting to tackle. It actually works!

Another pick, Amur-powered ACE-NANO 8MB board. Costs about ~$45 at the moment, which is quite a lot for an Arduino, but it is kinda unique. Got first experience with this MCU. It is quite interesting, and, let's put it this way, special at places. Will do more stuff with it soon!
