Shipwrecked on the Needles The HMS Assurance and HMS Pomone Shipwreck Centre and Maritime Museum founder Martin Woodward is giving a talk at Landguard Manor, Shanklin, on 10th May at 7pm, hosted by Vectis Archaeological Trust. Tickets are £10 and doors open at 6pm.

A few years ago, the Maritime Archaeology Trust went for a #dive on the site of the SS #Kurland and took this image, but can you tell what the #cargo is? It could be a pile of horseshoes, a large chain, or some fragments of a machine. (1/4 )

The SS #Kurland was discovered by Martin Woodward in the 1970s and studied as part of the Maritime Archaeology Trust's 'Forgotten Wrecks' project. (2/4)

Some of the artefacts from the site are now visible at the Shipwreck Centre, and if you look carefully, you may even find the builders nameplate! (3/4)

What a wonderful day yesterday was! As part of our Fathoming The Future project, we sat down with a group of #women from the Isle of Wight to discuss what maritime #heritage means to them.
