Today, MoS MoPSW Shri Shantanu Thakur chaired a review meeting on ongoing IWAI projects in West Bengal. Key discussions included the progress on Ichamati River (NW-44), Sahibganj Terminal, dredging tenders, and the development of a Centre of Excellence near Kalyani.

MoPSW has taken several initiatives to make India self-reliant in shipping sector. The efforts are part of a roadmap strategy to enhance the domestic capabilities & reduce dependency on foreign entities. Shipping sector's contribution to India’s GDP growth has also increased.
