The magical post-sunset light known here in #Shetland as the 'Simmer Dim' over St. Ninian's Isle and Burra just before midnight yesterday. Made all the more dramatic by the coming and going of swathes of fog in the hills. #StormHour VisitScotland

For 3 months in the summer in #Shetland, once the sun sets you're left with 'a milky white light, soft and pure, bathing the landscape in a quiet, subdued cloak'. Shetland with Laurie on the Simmer dim shetland.org/60n/blogs/post…

Enjoyed a wonderful encounter with these Orcas (the North Isles 65s pod) off the cliffs at Eshaness, #Shetland this afternoon. Great to see the matriarch '65' with her calf born in the winter of 2017 / 2018 thriving.

It's #NationalMeadowsDay - here in #Shetland many are presently fields of golden buttercups, but look closer and they're bursting with biodiversity - full of myriad flowering plants, humming with bumblebees, and home to many ground-nesting birds. Oh, and a pony or two.

Feeling fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful and unspoilt places in the UK.🌍 We're encouraging islanders to make the most of what’s on their doorsteps this summer - get outside, enjoy the sights and support the local economy as much as you can. #RediscoverShetland

Here in #Shetland many of our #Otters will be nursing infant cubs and soon will introduce them to the outside world. From late summer through early autumn is usually when we start to see and work on cubs at this wonderful age of 2-3 months old, as shown in this selection.
