Cameron County Public Health is investigating a potential tuberculosis (TB) exposure at two nursing homes, affecting over 600 current/former residents and staff. Testing is recommended for those potentially exposed.

Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. has ordered a temporary closure of Boca Chica Beach and State Highway 4 (FM 1419 to the beach) on 12/9/24 or 12/10/24, 8 AM-8 PM, due to planned SpaceX testing activities.

SpaceX has petitioned to incorporate Starbase as a Type-C Municipality. Cameron County will review the request for compliance. If valid, voters in the proposed area will decide in an election. The County Judge is working to ensure all statutory requirements are met.
