My favorite director is Patricia Rozema. I studied her work quite extensively in grad school. Her 1999 film Mansfield Park is my favorite Austen adaptation. I also strongly relate to the protagonist Polly in Rozema's I've Heard the Mermaids Singing. #FamilyMovieFridays

I absolutely adored #TurningRed. The girls in the film are some of the most relatable adolescent female characters I've ever seen on screen. I love the film's message as well. We should all embrace rather than ignore those messy and weird sides to ourselves.

She has more than deserved an Emmy nomination for years now. Her performance as Kim Wexler has become one of my favorites of all time.
