Every year birds of prey are poisoned with banned pesticides in Northern Ireland. In 2011 the government strengthened our wildlife laws. They added the fantastic Article 15B in the Wildlife (NI) Order, making it illegal to be in possession of a poison which is illegal to use…

…but the list of prescribed ingredients to go on the Order was never added!! Andrew Muir MLA Such a simple thing to help clear our countryside of poisons which are already illegal to use!! A list to give PSNI more powers in their investigations.

Whilst walking back from Gun Hill towards Burnham Overy Staithe yesterday I saw something I'd not witnessed before. This Red Kite dropped into a channel and appeared carrying a large fish. I've read that they will hunt like Ospreys, but never seen it. Isn't wildlife just amazing.

We need to talk about the media. 25 people protest against Irish language, & it gets amplified by our media. While positive events about communities working together are ignored. The citizens' assembly on housing? The All-island Women’s Forum peacebuilding conference?

Explored an area of NT - Murlough NNR opposite Ballykinler Camp this morning. A few years ago, brambles, nettles etc were cleared and it is now bristling with wildflowers, butterflies (pic shows a Ringlet), marram grass and other delights (hogweed, NOT giant hogweed, in pic).
