Female scientists at NYU feel utterly betrayed today, myself included. Where does Title IX start and end? If you’re willing to support the women at NYU, we would appreciate if this were spread far and wide. #WomenInScience #WomenInSTEM NIH HHMI #Cancer #Science

Wrote a piece on rape in Ukraine. Sadly, rape as a tool of war/colonialism/racism is not just a historical occurrence. nbcnews.com/think/culture-…

So if an angry man leaves my dean a hateful enough message about my public writing that the police reach out to advise me on staying safe, does that mean I'm officially a feminist public intellectual? nbcnews.com/think/culture-…

You can’t understand the court overturning Roe without understanding the role racism has played in the rise of the religious right and no reporter should report on this without talking about what may come next: Rulings against civil rights.

Justices accused of sexual assault wrote a ruling controlling women’s bodies. A country without access to paid leave, healthcare, childcare is forcing pregnancies. No accountability or penalties on impregnators. This is not about babies. It is about destroying women’s autonomy

I do get it why people are making the claim this is the first time the Supreme Court is purporting to roll back/take away rights, but that ignores pretty much all of American Indian law and jurisprudence.

Thanks for making the abortion-himpathy connection explicit. As well as treating women who don't want to be mothers (again) as sinners, the anti-abortion movement involves projecting men's sense of vulnerability at women not caring for them onto the blank figure of the fetus.

Today Vicki Ruiz received an honorary degree for her pioneering work telling the histories of Mexican women and Chicanas in the U.S. Though I had met her in writing, this was the first time meeting her in person, as her proud faculty escort! Viva! Women Also Know History

Men who embrace misogynist ideals of masculinity and honor-thinking are more prone to violent attitudes and to perpetrate violent crime, and to participate in political violence. A few examples of relevant studies:

Must Read: @hollyguise's new article on Indigenous women, sexual violence, and retelling the history of colonial power. So glad it is out in Western Historical Quarterly! academic.oup.com/whq/article-ab…

So well deserved: Vicki Ruiz receives honorary degree from Harvard for being a "fabled founding mother of Latina studies." And as everyone lucky enough to be in her orbit knows, one of the best mentors in the profession.

Almost nobody is entitled to a gun and nobody whatsoever is entitled to use your body without your consent. If you can get pregnant, you are morally entitled to an abortion. SCOTUS is beyond broken.

Against hundreds of years of congressional action, against solid #SCOTUS precedent, and hundreds of years of history, the Supreme Court held today that states have jurisdiction over certain crimes in Indian Country by judicial fiat. A devastating result for our democracy.

This #SCOTUS opinion in Castro Huerta is horrifying and insulting to Indian people and tribes. I’m shaken. Every few paragraphs of the majority opinion has another line that dismissively and casually cuts apart tribal independence that Native ancestors gave their lives for.
