Today, #Newstart allowance for unemployed was renamed the #JobSeekerPayment . For a single adult the rate crept up by 48 cents a day to $40.41 a day. At this time, we need to urgently lift barely subsistence payments for social security recipients. #auspol #ausecon #COVID2019AU

This week #Newstart for unemployed people was renamed #JobSeekerPayment. But the rate is as little as $40.41 a day. This must be a national priority. We must address the meagre #safetynet for our #socialsecurity recipients. #auspol #coronavirusau sharethepie.com.au

Jobs Minister Michaelia Cash has announced that the Government is waiving 'mutual obligations' requirements on jobseekers receiving payments, initially til March 31 but possibly longer. She says they won't be penalised for being unable to attend job appointments or activities.

Wow. More than 280,000 people have already lodged an ‘intent to claim’ a welfare payment at 2.30pm today, Stuart Robert has said. The option was only introduced today. People's livelihoods have been destroyed. #auspol #coronavirusau
