Placement Day 1. This morning I had a zoom with my practice educator and was told that I would be seeing clients independently😳😬 I then spent the afternoon reading case history notes on the clients that I will be seeing! So excited for what's to come! #SLT2B

Placement Day 2. Continued reading client notes and identified strengths/weaknesses, beginning to think of ideas for therapy. I then researched respiratory muscle strength training and found it very interesting, I'm hoping to implement my findings in practice next week! #SLT2B

Placement Day 3. Today I met with my placement educator to discuss my aims for the next couple of weeks, and if they were possible, which they are! :) As well as discussing the plans for the next week and the clients we will be meeting. I CANNOT WAIT!! #SLT2B

Thank you Iman Virji for your amazing lecture on communication assessments. It has been difficult to understand comm assessments due to COVID, but this has clarified a lot! And no better time, than when I've just started my placement! :) #SLT2B

Placement Day 4. Today I met the clients that I will be working with, such lovely people, each with differing difficulties - which will be interesting and keep me on my toes! I was also able to observe a CAT and Frenchay assessment! Such a good day :) #SLT2B

Friday's session was all about goal setting! Today we discussed our short and long-term goals and how best we can achieve them. From starting a business to learning a new language, with participants sharing lots of advice!😁 #aphasia #communication #goalsetting #support #PwA

Last Friday, participants enjoyed sharing their strategies to improve communication and mobility. This included pedal exercisers, therapy putty, reading with family members, writing notes to improve memory and therapy apps😃 #support #aphasia #PwA #communication

This is something I had not even considered, viewing it as politeness when it can actually be perceived as quite the opposite! A very interesting thread of comments that I would encourage reading😊 I will definitely be altering my emails in the future.
