Congrats Maya Ziv “Joshua Leifers Buch könnte, so es denn übersetzt wird, für deutsche Leser eine Lücke schließen, weil es vor allem eines leistet: die Normalisierung des Dissenses.” faz.net/aktuell/feuill…

I literally made a whole Twitter account just to say how much l loved talking to David/Dovid Bashevkin. What a masterful interviewer who asked all the right questions with nuance and sensitivity. Lakewood velt— listen! I’m really curious to hear what you all think.

So grateful that my better half Shaindy Ort-Leifer and I had the chance to talk with the brilliant David/Dovid Bashevkin on this podcast. It's a conversation about leaving and returning, the transformative power of obligation, and a lot more too. I hope you'll listen!

I really do think that it was the very strong and beautiful musssar chinuch that I was lucky to receive growing up in lakewood that made me particularly sensitive to the pain of Palestinians living under a brutal and humiliating military regime

It was very sad when Jewish Currents betrayed the Jews who wanted a home that could both condemn Israel's abuses and remain staunchly opposed to antisemitism and it is pathetic and appalling that the New Yorker honored them for that betrayal.

Again: if everyone, everywhere, truly accepted that seven million Jews and seven million Palestinians are not going anywhere, and that any possible future has to include and encompass both, the whole energy around this conflict would shift. There, and even more around the world.

Ah, yes, the world in which the state of Israel did not exist, prior to 1948, famously a world in which American police were free of racial animus and excessive violence.

Can't get over how many people on this hellsite actively get excited about or feel entertained by civilians getting bombed as long as the civilians are from the "wrong" country. This is not normal, you are genuinely bad people, and you should feel bad about this and change this

People reflexively accusing Israel of war crimes when they use 20g of explosives specifically targeting Hezbollah operatives are compromising the credibility they need to pressure the international community to stop actual war crimes in Gaza with 2000lb bombs on tent camps.

Learn how to read. Targeting combatants without causing disproportionate collateral damage isn’t a war crime. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s defensible. I guess since you support October 7 it’s hard for you to understand the legal distinction between civilians and combatants

Adherence to such basic tenets of international law should be EU consensus but as long as it isn't, civil society in all states that aren't going to vote in favour should demand it from their elected representatives.

Yep. And they don’t even give me a name. I am “Josh’s wife.” Pretty crazy that these people think they preach any kind of radical liberatory politics.
