This morning it was bitterly cold in northern California. It was 41F out 🙂 and the steering wheel of my car was sticky (tacky). After 15 minutes, when the car warmed up, it was no longer sticky. What happened and why? Zhigang Suo Gareth McKinley William V. Mars Xuanhe Zhao
The authors, Lallit Anand and Ken Kamrin of MIT and Sanjay Govindjee of Berkeley, are distinguished researchers and teachers. The book distills solid mechanics that has become significant in practice but has not been commonly taught in a single course.
Sanjay Govindjee is a co-author of Introduction to Mechanics of Solid Materials, a new book covering essential topics in engineering applications, including elasticity, plasticity and creep, and fracture and fatigue! Check out our news item to learn more: bit.ly/3yIeNpM.
Noted a familiar name on the wall while visiting the Centre Pompidou today. UC Berkeley Civil & Environmental Engineering
Returning home from the Berkeley Engineering UC Berkeley Civil & Environmental Engineering NHERI SimCenter #NHERICompSym meeting at the UCLA Luskin Conference Center & Hotel at UCLA . I was great to see how much the SimCenter has grown in the past year under Matt DeJong's new leadership along with Greg Deierlein.
Finally uploaded our report with the @NguyenLabJHU group on finite elements for liquid crystal elastomers, some of which was completed while visiting Costantino Creton at ESPCI. It includes a simulation of Shengqiang Cai 's great LCE balloon experiment. escholarship.org/uc/item/64d1w4…
