Either Starmer will have to delay the vote or compromise on the bill. Backbenchers can have power, with over 100 threatening to vote against their leader.

Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.

If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.

Y12 - *Add this to your case study*!! 26 sessions, 48 amendments considered, vote-a-rama, 3 Republican noes, and Vance casting tiebreaking vote!! Now back to the House 😬

The political ineptitude and mismanagement of this is epic. The whips office, the Downing St operation, and DWP should be hanging heads in shame. And truly disastrous for Keir Starmer and what’s left of his authority

The welfare bill passes! But 42 Labour MPs vote against it. That's too many for the whip to suspend but Starmer will be relieved he avoids a defeat, although he did have to make some drastic changes to keep backbenchers happy. All Cabinet ministers vote with the party #CMR

How many 16/17 year olds in the average constituency? What will the turn out be? It's the right thing to do (in this teachers opinion) but will make little difference to any result.
