Notable that my local Tory MP James Gray who has for a long time been ideologically opposed to solar farms lost his seat to a Lib Dem by a hefty margin.

Absolutely damning post mortem on recent Conservative governments' climate efforts from Climate Change Committee. Two years wasted that have undermined UK energy security, competitiveness, and climate action. And all for zero political gain. businessgreen.com/news/4336859/m…

This sentence is obscene. Why are we punishing the people trying to prevent disaster while allowing the oil company giants causing it to reap super profits? Chris Packham

Today 5 people who care about our planet have been viciously sentenced under laws that remove our right to peaceful protest. So I came to join those who stand in solidarity. We cannot put people behind bars for urging us to do what we know is right. #WholeTruth5

Goodbye Twitter ... X ... whatever you call yourself now. It's been interesting. But I' can't support the ethos behind the platform now, although I've had loads of great interactions with individual members and learned a lot along the way too. Thanks and goodbye.

. Dale Vince is pushing Daily Mail-type falsehoods about heat pumps while promoting a much worse alternative: his highly damaging, ecologically illiterate attempt to turn millions of acres of the UK into biogas fields. I hope the government ignores him. theguardian.com/environment/20…

I'm driving on sunshine! ☀️🚗 But what's best, biodiesel or electricity? Fuel from 1 hectare of oilseed crop = <18,000 miles of driving. BUT Electricity from 1 ha of solar PV = 2,000,000 miles in an electric car! ☀️⚡🚗 !!! 🤯 The solar/EV electric combo is incredible!

Solar panels and farms go together superbly. Politicians shouldn’t be telling farmers and landowners what they can do with their own land. Farmers know best.

The impact this would actually have on food security is so minuscule as to be laughable. Anyone actually serious about improving food security would be looking at encouraging people to eat a bit less meat, investing in more climate resilient agriculture, and banning golf courses.

Will solar PV soon be the cheapest source of electricity in most places around the world? This Nature Communications paper says yes. Most surprisingly this is AFTER including short- and long-term storage costs for renewable energy sources. nature.com/articles/s4146…

Starmer's 81% carbon target for 2035 has some people invoking various terrors about what that means. Here's what his independent advisers suggest he prioritise. 2 key ones are making electricity cheaper & making landlords stop renting out draughty homes

Hard to overstate quite how worrying the latest government food security report is. A predictable and predicted slow-motion disaster being allowed to play itself out. businessgreen.com/news-analysis/…
