The annual The John Snow Society Pumphandle Lecture is always a fantastic event, this year given by the former World Health Organization (WHO) Chief Scientist Dr Soumya Swaminathan. My role, to introduce Dr Soumya in the ceremonial removal of the handle of a replica water pump was worth the dress rehearsals.

Can't recommend this Youth Endowment Fund report enough which describes the experiences of involvement in violence of 10,000 children and young people across England and Wales - 27% involved as victims or perpetrators in the past year alone. That's a public health crisis.

A must read: The potential impacts of the incoming US administration on free speech in higher education. Clearly the battle is not really about free speech, but about suppressing non desirable speech in favour of the values of Trump and his backers.

📢Our mother-child bonding paper is out in PLOS One! In 2020 we developed a new tool to measure bonding, assessed its underlying constructs with structural equations and regression, showing bonding is affected by mode of birth and maternal depression. journals.plos.org/plosone/articl…
