A very stimulating paper by Carl Simpson and colleagues, which I've had a chance to review, on the expansion of the notion of fitness to so called 'expansion fitness' concept which can be applied to multiple levels of the genealogical hierarchy.

A quick comparison of the USGS DYFI reports for today's New Jersey mag 4.8 with yesterday's N. California mag 4.4. Same exact map scale. Besides the obvious difference in population density, notice the difference in felt area!
