Senator Bae promised to help Georgia’s Black farmers In 2021 he introduced the Emergency Relief for Farmers of Color Act and fought to get it in the American Rescue Plan Senator Graham called it reparations Senator Toomey proposed an amendment to strip it from ARP but failed

The bill’s provisions in the ARP provided $4B for loan forgiveness and $1B for grants Senator Bae, Senator My Boo and Agriculture Secretary Vilsack celebrated the announcement in Georgia It was a major civil rights victory because it addressed decades of systemic discrimination

The bill included FOUR pages detailing systemic racism harming Black farmers, and conservative groups like Stephen Miller’s America First Legal were BIG MAD They found white farmers to sue from multiple states to tie the program up in court Black farmers didn’t get their money

In 2022 the Biden-Harris administration found a way out of no way with the Inflation Reduction Act’s Discrimination Financial Assistance Program allocating $2.2 billion Senator Warnock got to make the call to a Black farmer in Georgia when the checks started going out this July

Democrats are trying their damndest to show up for the Black community Democrats pass bills, the president signs them and when the admin implements the programs Republicans run to the judiciary to squash them We need to keep the Senate to confirm more judges Keep fighting 🗳️
